The International MOMS Club®History
The International MOMS Club began in 1983 when Mary, an at-home mother in California, decided she was tired of being alone at home. She wanted to meet other at-home mothers and she wanted to find other at-home children for her children to play with. When she discovered there were no other organizations that met during the day and allowed her to come with her baby and preschooler, she decided to start a brand new organization just for at-home mothers, and the MOMS Club was born.
The chapter she started was so successful, she knew mothers in other areas must be needing the MOMS Club, too. Today, volunteers are helping mothers in over 1800 chapters with more than 75,000 members across the United States. We also have International chapters starting, too!
Don't be a Stay-At-Home-Mom who always stays home!With the MOMS Club, you will have enriching activities for you and your children, during the day when you most need the support. And remember, with the MOMS Club, you can participate and bring your children along! We believe that having children around is a natural part of being a mother. Having children and choosing to raise them ourselves should not isolate mothers-at-home! The MOMS Club is a wonderful way to meet other at-home mothers who share your interests and concerns. Our local chapters have meetings with speakers and discussions, organize family activities and outings for mothers and/or their children, sponsor playgroups, baby-sitting coops and other activity groups, and perform uplifting service projects to help needy children in our communities. Our goals include: providing a forum of topics of interest to women, giving mothers more of a voice in the community, having fun with our children and performing service projects in our community, especially projects benefitting women and children.
